Share

A 51-year-old Swiss man died in a helicopter crash on the Oberaletsch Glacier in Valais, Switzerland, on Saturday afternoon. The Eurocopter AS350 B3 Ecureuil was conducting an agricultural flight with three people on board when it crashed at 2,500 metres altitude between the Grosses Fußhorn and the glacier.

The helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances, rolled over and caught fire. One person was injured and hospitalised, while another escaped unharmed. Dramatic eyewitness footage captured the wreckage and smoke as a person ran from the crash site and returned.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Four helicopters assisted in the rescue and recovery operation.
