On 21 June around 18:30, a Beechcraft A90 King Air twin-engine (N256TA) went down near Dillingham Airfield, Hawaii, United States. The aircraft – owned and operated by the Oahu Parachute Center – just departed with eight skydivers and one pilot on board.
Honolulu Fire Department Chief Manuel Neves said the aircraft was fully engulfed with flames on the airfield’s fence line away from the runway when crews arrived.
Three tourists ready to parachute with 3 instructors, 1 photographer and one pilot were on board. The company offers Tandem Skydiving Packages to 10,000ft and 14,000ft with video and picture options.
“With extreme sadness, we have to report that the nine souls on board didn’t survive the crash,” the Hawaiian Department of Transportation announced.
The Federal Aviation Administration will be taking over the investigation, Neves said. It’s unclear what caused the crash.
