The US Coast Guard launched an air and sea search off Nantucket, Massachusetts, on Saturday, 3 October, after a medical transport jet carrying six people lost contact during a flight from Bermuda to Boston. A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed the aircraft’s medical transport role to Reuters.
The Latitude Air Ambulance Gulfstream G100 registered C-GRJP had departed Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport for Boston Logan. The Federal Aviation Administration reported losing contact early Saturday, prompting the search operation.
Search teams include aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, a lifeboat from Station Brant Point and the cutter William Sparling. The aircraft’s whereabouts and the condition of those aboard remain unknown; authorities have not confirmed a crash.
