A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan (5Y-CAC) from Kitale to Nairobi (NBO) and operated by Fly Sax of Kenya has gone missing. The aircraft disappeared from the radar at 14:02 (local time) in the Aberdere National Park, around 40 nautical miles from Nairobi.
The park contains a wide range of landscapes – from the mountain peaks that rise to 14,000 feet (4,300 m) above sea level, to their deep, v-shaped valleys intersected by streams, rivers, and waterfalls.
“Search and rescue teams (Air Accident Investigation Division, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Wildlife Service) and other agencies were activated immediately but they have paused for the night and they will resume at first light tomorrow morning“, Kenya’s civil aviation authorities tweeted.
