Five people have died after a Cessna 421C Golden Eagle II registered N291AN crashed late Thursday night near Wimberley, Texas, about 30 miles southwest of Austin.
Emergency crews responded around 23:00 and discovered the wreckage along with all five victims, the pilot and four passengers, on board. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
Preliminary findings indicate the aircraft was travelling at high speed at impact, and there is no evidence of a mid-air collision. The plane was destroyed in a post-impact fire.
The flight had departed from Amarillo and had been airborne for nearly two hours before the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are leading the investigation, with an NTSB investigator en route to the scene.
