On 2 January, a Sudanese Air Force Antonov An-12 aircraft crashed near Geneina Airport, Sudan, 5 minutes after take-off. Eighteen people, including four children, were believed to be on board and – according to local media – all of them perished in the crash.
The aircraft had been delivering aid to the area of West Darfur, where deadly clashes between Arab and African groups took place in recent days.
