Open Doors on Weekend of May 27th and 28th

The Chief of Staff, Colonel Bruno Beeckmans, and his teams are cordially inviting you to the Open Doors to be held this weekend. In collaboration with DAFA, will open the doors of Melsbroek Air Force Base to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Wing as well as the 30th anniversary of DAFA.

“The 15th Air Transport Wing is best known to the general public for our transport aircraft but is also the homebase for the police helicopters of the Directorate of Air Support (DAFA). The familiar C-130H has now been replaced by seven new Airbus A400M transport aircraft and, together with Luxembourg, has become a successful binational unit. Our unit’s infrastructure is getting a complete makeover: our new maintenance complex and the A400M flight simulator are now in use, while other projects are ongoing.

On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of May 2023, 15th Wing, together with DAFA, will open the gates of the Melsbroek airbase to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the wing as well as the 30th anniversary of DAFA.

The OPEN DOOR is a unique opportunity to give our families, partners and even the general public a look behind the scenes of our beautiful Wing. Since this only takes place every 10 years and the A400M is being made accessible for the first time, massive interest can be expected.

Your sympathy for our day-to-day hard work to protect EU values & interests and actively contribute to peace and security within NATO can be translated by visiting us during the Open Door.”
