Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel confirmed on Monday the arrival of the new US Vice President, Mike Pence, in Brussels. The two men will meet on Sunday 19 February during a working dinner which will be devoted both to the bilateral relations between Belgium and the United States and to the European institutions. The next NATO summit expected in May will also be discussed: President Donald Trump will come to Brussels with Air Force One for that event coupled with the inauguration of the new NATO Headquarters.
The White House said on Thursday its first visit to Europe of the vice president who will also travel to Germany to participate in the 53rd Munich Security Conference, held from 17 to 19 February, before meeting with leaders of the European institutions on Monday 20 February. A NATO summit is scheduled to take place in Belgium in May. The event serves to reinforce the international role of Belgium, commented the Prime Minister on the sidelines of an official visit to Israel.

President Donald J. Trump will travel to Brussels, Belgium, for the May 25, 2017, meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Heads of State and Government. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the Leaders Meeting date earlier today. The President looks forward to meeting with his NATO counterparts to reaffirm our strong commitment to NATO, and to discuss issues critical to the alliance, especially allied responsibility-sharing and NATO’s role in the fight against terrorism. In addition to the President’s participation in the NATO Leaders Meeting, the President will also welcome Secretary General Stoltenberg to the White House on April 12, 2017, where they will talk about how to strengthen the alliance to cope with challenges to national and international security.
