A US fighter jet has been shot down over southern Iran, marking the first known incident of its kind in the current conflict. According to US media reports, one crew member has been rescued, while the fate of the second remains unknown as search and rescue operations continue.
Earlier reports indicated that a US F-15 went down in Iran’s Khuzestan province. Verified video footage appears to show a US aircraft accompanied by two helicopters in the area, while Iranian state media claim their forces were responsible for shooting it down.
The White House confirmed that Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation. The incident represents a significant escalation, particularly following earlier remarks suggesting Iran lacked the capability to challenge US air operations over its territory.
