The United Arab Emirates Armed Forces confirmed that two soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash on Monday during an operational mission.
According to the Ministry of Defence (United Arab Emirates), the helicopter crashed due to a technical malfunction while the personnel were performing their national duty.
Authorities did not release further details about the type of helicopter involved, the exact crash location and the nature of the mission.
Military authorities are expected to conduct a technical investigation into the malfunction that led to the crash.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following a major escalation involving Israel, the United States and Iran.
Recent hostilities have included missile and drone attacks affecting several countries in the region, including Jordan and Iraq, which host facilities linked to U.S. forces.
However, the UAE defence ministry indicated that the helicopter crash was caused by a technical issue, and there has been no indication that it was related to combat activity.
