A second F/A-18 fighter jet has crashed into the Red Sea from the USS Harry S. Truman in just eight days, after a failed arrestment during landing on Tuesday night.
The two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet was unable to catch the arresting wire and went overboard around 21:45 local time. Both aviators ejected safely, sustaining only minor injuries.
This follows an earlier incident on April 28, when a single-seat F/A-18E was accidentally pulled off the deck and into the sea during towing operations. Both incidents are now under investigation by the U.S. Navy.
