At least 19 people, including the pilot, were killed and 164 others injured when a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara neighbourhood on Monday.
The aircraft went down shortly after taking off at 13:06 local time, igniting a fire on impact. Many of the injured were students attending classes or exams at the time. Rescuers used rickshaws and other available means to transport victims to hospitals.
Authorities have yet to release the names of the deceased. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it marks the deadliest aviation accident in Dhaka in recent memory.
