Textron Aviation Defense has introduced the Beechcraft M-346N as its proposed solution for the U.S. Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS) programme, in partnership with Leonardo. The M-346N is based on Leonardo’s widely deployed M-346 aircraft, already used in training programs for 4th- and 5th-generation fighter pilots worldwide.
Built on 95 years of American aviation heritage, the M-346N is a twin-engine, tandem-seat jet featuring digital fly-by-wire controls, advanced avionics, and cutting-edge safety systems like Auto-GCAS. It is powered by two Honeywell F124-GA-200 turbofan engines, achieving speeds over 590 knots and a ceiling of 45,000 ft, while offering exceptional instructor visibility and manoeuvrability for realistic, high-performance training.
The aircraft is part of a comprehensive, AI-driven integrated training ecosystem, combining live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) elements. This includes advanced simulators, embedded tactical emulation systems, and adaptive training tailored to individual student performance.
Textron and Leonardo position the M-346N as a “ready-now” American solution to modernize U.S. Navy and Marine Corps jet pilot training, with a focus on enhanced readiness, safety, and cost-efficiency.
