A Lockheed-Martin F-35A Joint Strike Fighter from the Italian Air Force is set to appear at the Belgian Air Force Days, held at Kleine Brogel Air Base on 8 and 9 September. It will be the very first time that an F-35 will touch base on Belgian soil.
The F-35 is a combat aircraft of the fifth generation. This aircraft is a so-called ‘stealth’, which means it is very hard to detect by enemy radar, not only thanks to its unique shape but also because it carries its weapons internally. Apart from this, the cockpit is rammed with the latest technologies.
The aircraft will be on static display during the event, next to two other possible candidates to replace the current Belgian Air Force F-16s: a British Typhoon Eurofighter and a French Rafale. The two latter will participate in demo flights.
