Embraer marks milestone with delivery of 1,700th Ipanema cropduster

Embraer has delivered its 1,700th Ipanema cropduster, underscoring the aircraft’s enduring leadership in agricultural aviation. The milestone EMB-203 unit will operate in Imperatriz, Maranhão, adding to a fleet that holds roughly 60% of Brazil’s agricultural aviation market.

Celebrating the achievement in Botucatu, São Paulo, Embraer highlighted the Ipanema’s long-standing reputation for high productivity, low operating costs and sustainable performance, thanks in part to its pioneering ethanol-powered engine. The model can spray more than 200 hectares per hour, offering efficiency comparable to four large ground sprayers while avoiding soil compaction and reducing pest spread—benefits that can translate to yield gains of up to 15 bags per hectare.

More than 180 Ipanemas have been sold in the past three years, reflecting steady growth in demand from rural producers. The aircraft supports a suite of precision-ag technologies designed to enhance application quality and operational sustainability.

Embraer is also using industry events to reinforce agricultural flight safety, promoting best practices for pilots, mechanics and operators. All agricultural pilot training courses in Brazil now include instruction from the Ipanema customer support team, embedding a strong safety culture from the outset of pilots’ careers.
