Embraer has delivered the first C-390 Millennium multi-mission transport aircraft to the Czech Air Force, marking a major step in the modernisation of the country’s military airlift capabilities and strengthening its contribution to NATO operations.
The delivery ceremony took place at Prague Kbely Air Base on 16 July 2026, just 20 months after the signing of the acquisition agreement, highlighting Embraer’s ability to meet customer delivery timelines. The Czech Republic becomes the latest NATO member to operate the aircraft, joining a growing international fleet.
The C-390 Millennium will provide the Czech Armed Forces with enhanced capabilities for strategic and tactical airlift, including the transport of heavy cargo and personnel, humanitarian missions, medical evacuation, search and rescue operations, firefighting and aerial refuelling.
Designed as a next-generation medium military transport aircraft, the C-390 can carry up to 26 tonnes of payload, operate at speeds of up to 470 knots and perform missions from temporary or unpaved runways. The aircraft can also be configured for air-to-air refuelling missions.
Embraer highlighted the Czech Republic’s long-standing involvement in the programme, with Czech industry playing an important role in the aircraft’s development and production. The C-390 Millennium has now been selected by several air forces worldwide, including Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia and Lithuania.
