Elysian Aircraft, KLM, and Transavia have launched a joint initiative to drive the development of battery-electric aviation, focusing on the future deployment of Elysian’s E9X aircraft. The E9X aims to carry 90 passengers up to 800 kilometres on electric power—ideal for regional routes like Amsterdam–London.
Through a series of interdisciplinary workshops, the three partners will explore technical, operational, and commercial aspects of electric aviation. Their goal is to develop not just the aircraft but a complete ecosystem around it, encompassing customer experience, infrastructure, and viable routes.
Transavia contributes practical airline operations and sustainability expertise, while KLM brings insight into alternative propulsion technologies and long-term sector transformation. Pilots are also involved in shaping flight operations, especially around managing new energy systems.
The collaboration marks a major step toward zero-emission air travel, with partners committed to combining innovation with realistic, scalable solutions. Future work will include detailed route analysis and passenger experience design to support electric aircraft adoption.
