US influencer freed after detention in Antarctic airbase

Share

American influencer Ethan Guo, 20, was released after spending two months detained at a Chilean Antarctic airbase.

Guo had attempted to become the youngest person to fly solo to all seven continents but was accused of lying on his flight plan and landing in Antarctica without permission. Chilean authorities fined him $30,000, ordered him to donate his fundraising money to a childhood cancer foundation, and banned him from Chile for three years.

Guo had endured freezing winter conditions during his detention before being allowed to return to the mainland.
