A light aircraft operated by African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Flying Doctors crashed into a residential area in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, on Wednesday afternoon, killing six people and injuring at least two others.
The Cessna 560XL Citation XLS, registered 5Y-FDM, had four medical personnel onboard — two doctors and two nurses — and was en route from Wilson Airport, Kenya, to Hargeisa, Somalia, when it went down under unclear circumstances.
Two additional fatalities were members of the public at the crash site.
A multi-agency response team, including the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Police, is at the scene conducting rescue and recovery efforts. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
