Textron Aviation has secured the first military order for its Cessna SkyCourier, marking the aircraft’s entry into the global defence market. Belgium has ordered five units to support its Special Operations Forces.
The SkyCourier fleet will be used for a wide range of missions, including troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation (CASEVAC), and crisis response. Deliveries are scheduled throughout 2027, with mission-specific modifications to be carried out locally by Sabena Engineering before final handover to the military.
Designed for rugged environments, the SkyCourier offers high payload capacity, flexible cabin configurations, and the ability to operate from short or unprepared runways—key requirements for special operations. Its relatively low operating costs and versatility make it an attractive option for modern military forces seeking adaptable airlift solutions.
Belgium’s selection reflects growing demand for cost-effective, multi-role aircraft and also strengthens domestic aerospace expertise through local integration and certification work.
