This afternoon a Cessna 152 (CS-AVA) made an emergency landing on a beach near Lisbon, killing two sunbathers. The two victims are a man and an eight-year-old girl.
An eye-witness told television station SIC Noticias that the aircraft was flying at a low altitude over the beach before attempting the emergency landing. Most of the sunbathers didn’t realize something was wrong until everybody started running. Caparica beach is located about 30 km south-west of the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
The cause of the emergency landing remains unclear.
