Britten-Norman marks the 60th anniversary of the Islander aircraft, first flown on 13 June 1965.
Designed for rugged reliability by founders John Britten and Desmond Norman, the Islander has become a global workhorse, known for operating in extreme environments from jungle to island. Over six decades, it has served in diverse roles including passenger transport, disaster relief, and military operations.
The company is now entering a new growth phase, following major 2024 investments aimed at boosting production and evolving the Islander with modern avionics and systems, while preserving its legendary durability.
CEO William Hynett emphasised a forward-looking vision, focused on meeting future aviation needs. A commemorative logo and team photo mark the anniversary.
