The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $173 million contract to produce eight more MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, along with training and sustainment services. This latest order brings the total number of aircraft under contract to 34, following a previous $178 million award for seven helicopters in 2024.

The new lot will include the first aircraft bound for Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, marking another milestone as the program progresses toward Initial Operational Capability. To date, Boeing has delivered 18 helicopters, including 12 from low-rate initial production, and completed deliveries for the first operational unit at Malmstrom AFB, Montana.

Developed in partnership with Leonardo Helicopters, the MH-139A—based on the AW139 platform—offers enhanced speed, range, and payload for missions including patrol, search and rescue, and transport. Boeing and Leonardo leaders highlighted the aircraft’s growing operational role and its contribution to U.S. national security and domestic manufacturing.
