Poland is set to become the world’s largest Apache operator outside the United States after awarding Boeing a Foreign Military Sales contract to produce 96 AH-64E attack helicopters. The deal, announced on Nov. 26 and valued at nearly $4.7 billion, is the largest Apache order ever placed by a non-U.S. customer.

Deliveries to the Polish Armed Forces will begin in 2028. In preparation, Poland’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) is already training pilots and technicians on the platform, supported by the lease of eight U.S. Army Apaches currently in use.

Boeing said the agreement paves the way to build one of the world’s most powerful Apache fleets. “We’re focused on disciplined execution to help enhance Poland’s defence capabilities and keep up with strong demand for the most advanced attack helicopter,” said Christina Upah, vice president of Attack Helicopter Programs.

As part of an offset arrangement, Poland’s domestic industry will take on key maintenance and support roles for the fleet. Boeing will also help establish training programs and develop a composite laboratory in the country.

The AH-64E represents the latest and most advanced Apache variant, offering enhanced lethality, survivability, connectivity and battlefield interoperability. More than 1,300 Apaches currently operate worldwide, supported by Boeing Global Services.

Poland becomes the 19th country to select the Apache, joining recent new operators in Australia, India and Morocco.
