Four military personnel have reportedly died and 11 others were injured after an Italian Army Boeing CH-47 Chinook operating with EUFOR Althea crashed near Gorica, in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Br?ko district, on 29 October 2026.
EUFOR confirmed that one of its aircraft crashed during a routine operation and said no civilian infrastructure was damaged. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately.
Initial reporting by ANSA, citing Br?ko Mayor Siniša Mili?, put the toll at three dead and 12 injured. The supplied Dutch-language report subsequently quoted Br?ko hospital spokesperson Salih Ibrahimbegovi? as saying a fourth serviceman had died in hospital. The reports indicate that 15 people were aboard; their nationalities have not been confirmed.
The cause remains under investigation. EUFOR said it would conduct a full investigation and release further information once the facts had been established, urging the public to avoid circulating unverified claims.
