Boeing has received an order for four MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, marking the programme’s first full-rate production award following the US Air Force’s declaration of initial operational capability earlier this year.
Announced on 1 October, the contract brings the total number of Grey Wolf helicopters under contract to 42. Boeing has delivered 27 aircraft to date.
The additional helicopters will support the Air Force’s deployment plans, including missions to protect strategic missile fields and other vital national assets.
Kathleen Jolivette, Boeing’s vice-president and general manager of Vertical Lift Programs, said the award demonstrated the programme’s readiness and supported ongoing fleet modernisation. The announcement did not disclose the contract value or delivery schedule.
