Aircraft leasing company Avolon has finalized an order for 140 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, marking the largest-ever 737 MAX purchase by a lessor. The agreement increases Avolon’s total 737 MAX backlog to more than 240 aircraft. The order reflects growing demand among leasing companies for larger single-aisle aircraft. Lessors have placed firm orders for more than 230 Boeing 737-10s in 2026, five times their combined backlog for the variant at the end of 2025.
The Boeing 737-10, the largest member of the 737 MAX family, can accommodate up to 230 passengers and has a range of 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 kilometres). Boeing says the aircraft offers the lowest per-seat operating costs of any single-aisle aircraft.
According to Boeing, lessors have now ordered more than 1,450 737 MAX aircraft, representing approximately 20% of the manufacturer’s total backlog.
