Saudi Arabia’s The Helicopter Company (THC) has placed a firm order for eight additional Airbus H145 helicopters during the Farnborough International Airshow, further expanding its fleet under a framework agreement signed with Airbus in 2024.
The new helicopters will be delivered between 2027 and 2028 and form part of the original agreement covering up to 120 Airbus helicopters of various types. The aircraft will support THC’s growing operations, including emergency medical services (EMS) and other mission-critical missions across Saudi Arabia and international markets.
THC said the additional H145s will strengthen its operational capabilities, support future growth and help expand its presence beyond the Kingdom as part of its long-term development strategy.
Airbus highlighted the H145’s proven performance in Saudi Arabia’s demanding “hot and high” operating conditions, where the type is already used by THC for EMS missions and operations such as the Dakar Rally.
The order supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme to develop the country’s aviation sector and expand access to commercial helicopter services.
The Airbus H145 is a light twin-engine helicopter designed for multi-mission operations. More than 1,800 helicopters from the H145 family are in service worldwide, having accumulated over 8.6 million flight hours. It is also recognised as the quietest helicopter in its class.
