Armenia has signed its first-ever contract with Airbus Helicopters for the purchase of six H145 multi-purpose helicopters, marking a significant step in the country’s rotorcraft modernisation programme. The agreement was concluded during the state visit of Emmanuel Macron to Yerevan and has now entered into force.
The helicopters will be used primarily for transport missions. Airbus highlighted the H145’s suitability for Armenia’s mountainous terrain and demanding operating conditions, citing its strong performance at high altitudes and in hot environments. The five-bladed model offers increased payload capacity, smoother flights and simplified maintenance.
Airbus described the deal as the start of a long-term partnership with Armenia. The H145 is one of the world’s most widely used light twin-engine helicopters, with more than 1,800 aircraft in service and over 8.5 million flight hours accumulated globally. Equipped with Safran Arriel 2E engines, advanced Helionix avionics and a four-axis autopilot, it is recognised for its safety, low noise levels and comparatively low CO? emissions.
