Airbus secures 10-helicopter H125 deal as Nordic demand accelerates

Airbus has strengthened its foothold in the Nordic helicopter market with a new order for 10 H125 aircraft from Østnes Helicopters, the region’s official Airbus Helicopters distributor. Announced at European Rotors in Cologne, the deal brings Østnes’ total H125 orders for 2025 to 14, following four earlier bookings this year.

Stine Østnes, Chief Sales Officer of Østnes Helicopters, said the purchase ensures strong availability of a model that remains in high demand among operators whose missions range from long-line utility work to passenger transport. “The H125 delivers on all fronts… This strategic procurement ensures we can maintain short delivery times and offer our customers the best availability for the world’s most successful single-engine helicopter,” she noted.

Airbus hailed the strong order activity as further evidence of the aircraft’s dominance in the Nordic region. “The unwavering demand for the H125 in the Nordics is a clear testament to its unmatched versatility and performance,” said Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters.

Østnes Helicopters is a major force in the regional rotorcraft market, having facilitated the sale of more than 400 helicopters and operating a full MRO organisation for the H120, H125 and H130 families, with additional support capabilities for the H145.

More than 130 H125s are currently flying in the Nordics, primarily in utility and aerial work roles. Globally, over 4,300 helicopters from the H125 (Ecureuil) family are in service, securing a 73% share of the intermediate single-engine segment in 2024.
