Airbus signs € 1.2 billion in contracts for Capability Enhancement and In-Service Support of the French A330 MRTT fleet

Airbus Defence and Space has signed contracts worth €1.2 billion with France’s Direction générale de l’armement (DGA) and Direction de la Maintenance Aéronautique (DMAé) for the Capability Enhancement and In-Service Support of the French A330 MRTTs (Multi Role Tanker Transport) fleet.

The Standard 2 contract focuses on enhancing connectivity and self-protection capabilities for the MRTTs. These enhancements will transform the French A330 MRTT into a high-bandwidth communication relay node, with command and control capabilities, integrated into the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).

The first aircraft to undergo these upgrades will be A330 MRTT No. 15, with completion expected in 2028. The second contract covers 10 years of in-service support for the ‘Phénix’ fleet, ensuring operational availability and support for deployments outside France.

France is the largest A330 MRTT customer, with 15 aircraft ordered.

Airbus has received a total of 79 orders from 15 countries for the A330 MRTT.
