Lufthansa Technik reports €8 billion revenue and prepares multi-billion euro investment push

Share

Aircraft maintenance specialist Lufthansa Technik reported revenue of more than €8 billion for the first time in 2025, while maintaining operating profits above €600 million, laying the groundwork for more than €2 billion in investments over the next five years.

Revenue reached €8.049 billion, an increase of 12% year-on-year, with around 75% generated from customers outside the Lufthansa Group. Adjusted EBIT totalled €603 million, broadly stable compared with the previous year, although the EBIT margin declined to 7.5% from 8.5%.

The company said earnings were affected by U.S. tariffs, rising material costs and an unfavourable depreciation of the U.S. dollar.

“The past year presented us with very special challenges,” said Soeren Stark, CEO of Lufthansa Technik. Despite geopolitical tensions and pressure on global supply chains, he said the company remains confident it will continue to grow and aims to increase earnings by more than 10% annually as part of its Ambition 2030 strategy.

Global investment programme

Following investments already in the hundreds of millions of euros in 2025, Lufthansa Technik plans to invest over €2 billion by the early 2030s to expand facilities and its component pool across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions.

At its headquarters in Hamburg, several construction projects are underway, including new workshops for Special Aircraft Services and Aircraft Component Services. A new hydraulics workshop has already begun trial operations.

In Alzey, a new warehouse and logistics centre for aircraft engines and spare parts has entered service at Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey.

Meanwhile, construction is progressing on a new production facility for engine parts and aircraft component repairs at Lufthansa Technik Portugal in Santa Maria da Feira, near Porto. The site is expected to employ up to 700 people and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Expansion in North America and Asia

In North America, Lufthansa Technik Canada has begun construction of a new engine maintenance facility at Calgary International Airport, which will include an integrated test stand designed to support next-generation engine types.

Additional component repair capacity is also being added at Lufthansa Technik Component Services in Tulsa.

The company is also exploring options to expand aircraft overhaul capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.

Defence and digital services growth

Beyond its traditional maintenance business, Lufthansa Technik has also expanded its defence and digital activities. Through its Lufthansa Technik Defense brand, the company is involved in the integration of Germany’s PEGASUS signal intelligence aircraft and the support of the Boeing P?8A Poseidon operated by the German Navy.

In the digital domain, the company continues to develop its Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem, which includes the platforms AVIATAR, flydocs, and AMOS. Together, these services are used by customers operating around 11,000 aircraft worldwide, roughly one-third of the global fleet.

Lufthansa Technik also signed €8.8 billion in new contracts in 2025, evenly distributed across its three global regions, with particularly strong demand from the Asia-Pacific and Middle East markets as well as continued expansion of its engine maintenance business in North America.
