Lufthansa Technik will invest a three-digit million-dollar sum to build a second aircraft maintenance facility in the Philippines, at Clark International Airport in Pampanga. The new 157,000-square-metre site will have capacity for up to nine widebody aircraft and is expected to create around 1,200 highly skilled jobs, with operations scheduled to begin in 2028.
Announced during the state visit of Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Philippines, the project was welcomed by both the German president and Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as a landmark in German-Philippine economic cooperation.
The Clark facility will complement Lufthansa Technik’s long-established maintenance base at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, creating a major regional hub for widebody aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The expansion strengthens the company’s position in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific aviation market and enhances its ability to serve airline customers across Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
As Lufthansa Technik’s global competence centre for widebody aircraft, its Philippine operations currently maintain Airbus A330, A340, A350 and A380 aircraft, as well as the Boeing 777. The new Clark facility will add support for the Boeing 787, further expanding the company’s service portfolio and long-term presence in the region.
