Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company and the world’s largest air cargo handler, has finalised its acquisition of Aviapartner Cargo NV at Brussels Airport following full regulatory approval.
The deal significantly strengthens WFS’s position in the Belgian market by adding full freighter ramp handling, towing and airside transport services to its existing warehouse operations. More than 200 Aviapartner Cargo employees will transfer to WFS under the agreement.
As part of the transaction, WFS takes control of Aviapartner Cargo’s 33,000m² terminal at Brussels Airport. The facility includes two dedicated pharmaceutical handling zones, a phytosanitary inspection point, and specialised mail and courier infrastructure—enhancing WFS’s ability to serve high-value and temperature-sensitive cargo segments.
WFS has operated in Brussels since 1992 and already manages nearly 30,000m² of warehouse space across two facilities, handling cargo for more than 50 airlines. In Belgium, the company also maintains a strong presence in Liège, where it provides ramp and warehouse services for 12 airlines and e-commerce logistics player Cainiao.
Aviapartner will continue its ground handling activities for passenger and business aviation clients at Brussels Airport.
Philippe Torry, WFS Managing Director Belgium, said the acquisition adds capacity, customers and operational expertise to the company’s Brussels platform. The integration of freighter ramp handling and expanded airside capabilities is expected to unlock new commercial opportunities with both existing and prospective airline clients.
The move consolidates WFS’s footprint in one of Europe’s key cargo gateways and reinforces Brussels Airport’s role as a major hub for pharmaceutical, express and freighter operations.
