One of the oldest African airlines, still in operation.

Air Burkina will come under the American control, from january 2021. Not every day that we see Americans investing, in this French-speaking (and even somewhat English-speaking) zone, in the aviation. It is rather the Chinese, or the countries of the Middle East, in recent years

Project to add A220s, ERJ145s and Cessna Caravan, from 2021. That seems correct to me, perfectly suited to the regional market.

The Cessna Caravan, to serve remote corners, in Burkina, with low traffic, but with a need to transport food and pax, quickly.

The ERJs could fly, on the domestic ( Bobo Dioulasso-Ouagadougou, or Bobo-Abidjan service) and short flights, in the sub-region, like Niger and the A220, in the sub-region, on destinations with highest demand: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ghana, Benin and Togo

Hoping the business plan is good this time

Ethiopian has dedicated another aircraft to UNHAS, United Nations Humanitarian Air Service missions.

ET-ALJ, a November 2003 B767-300, has been painted anew in August and started immediately her new life operating primarily for the WFP in Africa and Asia. Transporting passengers and cargo.

Lima Juliet replaces the 3-year older ET-ALH that fulfilled the same role since 2012 and that I saw in Entebbe in 2014. viewtopic.php?t=55564

(I always wonder if these billboard UN titles reduce the risk of being shot at or is rather an invitation to do so in some areas …)

Lima Hotel flew probably her last flight to KMRJ / Pinal Airpark on 31JUL, 20 years and 13 days after her first flight.

ECAir to sell two Airbus aircraft for spare parts, as the non-airworthy planes are currently parked in Brussels. Two more aircraft are parked in Addis Ababa and two more in Johannesburg, awaiting maintenance.

Dark clouds for Corendon Airlines: a Dutch court has ruled that Sunweb/Triton cannot be forced to take over Corendon, as was agreed by both parties (but not signed) before Covid-19 started.

Court verdict - Dutch only:

Corendon already announced they will appeal against the verdict.

1st EL AL flight to Rwanda yesterday. The flight was operated in B737-800. There were 125 pax on board according to the Israeli ambassador to Rwanda. These flights are available via an Israeli Travel Agnecy. https://translate.google.com/translate? ... a_gorillas

With Israir's stats and those of EL Al for the moment it's pretty good. Rwanda is a small market for Israel in East Africa compared to Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania. Too early to know if these flights will be renewed.

The company will operate another flight this month.

Basically, I wonder if RwandAir will resume its route to TLV. Definitely more interesting to see EL Al fly between Kigali and Tel Aviv, in the future when things will be a little better. EL Al serves the countries which represent the biggest markets for Rwanda outside Africa (United States, United Kingdom, India, Germany and Belgium)

Rare image. Israir (which operates one flight per week until early January 2021) and El AL to Kigali at the same time.

Airbus said it stands to lose more than US$5 billion worth of aircraft orders if AirAsia X debt restructuring scheme goes through, court documents showed, joining more than a dozen creditors that have challenged the carrier’s plan.

If you remember that Airbus incurred a very heavy fine of $4 billion for bribery to get those orders, Airbus might have preferred never to do business with AirAsia.

Windy up there.

According to Windy.com, winds aloft reach 199kts above the Atlantic at FL340.
Now that is a headwind if you insist flying in the middle of that stream.

Winds 20201227T0900Z at FL340.png

Not that it is much better at lower altitude in western Europe. Most countries issued a sigmet for severe turbulence below FL050.
WSBX31 EBBR 270728
EBBU SIGMET U03 VALID 270800/271000 EBBR-
EBBU BRUSSELS FIR SEV TURB FCST ENTIRE FIR SFC/FL050

Positive side of it : low risk of contamination thanks to good dilution of the SarsCov-2 virus if you plan to have a barbecue today.
