Important to highlight that Royal Jordanian has suspended flights to Baghdad only. The airline will continue to operate flights to Basra, Erbil, Najaf & Sulaimaniyah. (Source: Alex Macheras)

I couldn't decide if I had to post this in the topic "Military crashes" or "Monday morning smile". So I post it here:

For those who don't follow Dutch (.nl) media:

on 14th January, the 3 crew members from MP-6912 = Martinair 747-400F PH-CKA have been arrested at EZE - Buenos Aires, Argentina, after 80 kgs cocaine were found in the cargo hold from their aircraft. Scheduled routing MP-6912 was Campinas (Brazil) -> Buenos Aires (Argentina) -> Quito (Ecuador) -> (Amsterdam (NL). The drugs were hidden inside electronic devices, and were found during a massive police raid on aircraft on the tarmac, obviously after police was informed about the transport.

So far KLM - Martinair's mother company - refuses to comment.

Thanks for the heads-up Passenger! I was able to write the following story: https://www.aviation24.be/airports/buen ... martinair/

Note that the crew possibly wasn't aware of the transport.

On 15 January, Hugo C., a Belgian citizen aged 54 bound for Madrid, Spain was arrested at Lima’s international airport in Peru. He got caught carrying 20 live birds – all protected species – hidden in his suitcase, which he intended to sell in Spain, the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor) reported on Wednesday.

Three major U.S. airports will screen passengers from a city in China where a mysterious respiratory virus has sickened dozens.

Airports in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles will begin screening passengers arriving from Wuhan, China, for infection with a mysterious respiratory virus that has killed two people and sickened at least 45 overseas, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced.

There are reports on Twitter that Argentina has released the KLM crew.
From the homepage:
Argentina releases Martinair pilots and ground staff
KLM and Martinair Cargo are sincerely delighted to confirm that the 3 pilots and 3 ground staff involved in the investigation in Argentina will be released today. In connection with the welfare and privacy of all employees involved, KLM will not make any substantive statements as long as the investigation is ongoing. The aircraft, a KLM Cargo Boeing 747-400 freighter registered PH-CKA in use by Martinair Cargo and investigated by the Argentinian authorities after the discovery of 84 kg of cocaine, has not yet been released.
After the initial joy, it's back to reality. The crew has been released from prison indeed, but they are not allowed yet to leave Argentina. One local Martinair ground crew member remains in custody.

Corona virus in China: on 29th January 2020, the Belgium Foreign Office (FOD Buitenlandse Zaken - SPF Affaires étrangères) has called a "negative travel advice" for China. Exception: Hong Kong. This means that touroperators have to cancel tours that they had scheduled. For tickets only, it's different. When flights are cancelled, airlines have to give the passengers the choice between a rerouting and a cancellation with full refund. Passengers are not entitled to the €600 indemnity however. When flights are still operated, airlines could refuse to give passengers that choice - but airlines then face nasty comments on social media.

https://diplomatie.belgium.be/nl/Dienst ... ezen/china

The US state of Delaware gets reconnected by air as Frontier Airlines begins serving its capital Willmington from May. Hard to be believe the entire state did not have any airlines flying there since some years.
