On topic,..
I heard of rumours thé F50 of Air Antwerp would fly roundflights during thé 'bevrijdingsdagen' op 7-8 september 2019.
Any more info about this ?
The aircraft is going to be indeed at Antwerp during the bevrijdingsdagen on those dates. No idea yet if roundflights have been already confirmed.

Temporary IATA code is WP, to be confirmed by IATA.

A later return flight would be good, yes. This is a business route, and business in London terminates later than on the Continent. But changing from 17:35 to 18:00 is not enough. Better have a return flight as late as possible, i.e. landing at EBAW just short of the curfew, with reasonable reserve.

As an afterthought: if I had been to London for a day of business, with perhaps only a quick snack or sandwich for lunch, I'd be happy to get a solid meal during the flight home. Might need to book in advance (on the outbound flight?) might need to pay extra, still it would be a nice added value service.

But I do not doubt that all this will have been carefully considered, the route has a long tradition, the demand must be known in fine detail. And as long as only a single plane is available, three flights per day seems a maximum.

I am really wondering what they will do if that 1 aircraft is AOG?? I think it is vital that there is some reliability in this early proces, especially when attracting new customers.

Yes, I thought the same. Still, here again I trust the management to have done their homework properly. Perhaps an extra clause in the contract with Amapola, for a standby aircraft to be available?

Also, may I be allowed some musing on the "ideal" plane for the ANR-LCY route?
* 50 seats is plenty
* good passenger comfort is essential
* prop is quite acceptable

There is a class of 19-seaters (B1900, DHC6, Do-228) but they are imho too small to offer sufficient comfort. No galley, no toilet, limited overhead bins...

ATR72 and Dash-8 are too big. Jets too expensive, both to acquire and to operate.

In between, I see few alternatives; ATR42 exists but is perhaps only marginally less expensive to operate than an ATR72? As a passenger, I think I'd prefer an ATR42 or -72 in a 3-abreast layout - business class only.

Hi,

Best aircraft is one that can make money...
Guess back up will be served by cityjet no?
A WX AR8 of their own fleet or a KL E175 is fast available I guess...
Isn't there 5 SSJ in WX fleets on a UK Grassland sitting duck ?
If it works out guess we will see a Dash8 soon enough... ( LH quits LGW, downside of BE when Virgin Atlantic transistions or a S2000 of Adria :) )

We will see, but for a start a F50 will give ANR it's 'home' aircraft back for a start...

Loved to see the blue, yellow birds flying over my 'kot' in that days, and looking forward to join the first flight :)

For such a short hop and for a total stay on board of perhaps one hour, a turboprop is more than acceptable.
A member said that VLM's flights had a fairly low load facor, if I remember well. Failing a Business class, I hope that WP's (?) booking software will see to it that pax booking a Full Flex ticket (return fare just 257 euros on KLM's web site) will have the seat next to them blocked (not "block final", but blocked whenever possible).

As to the evening flight, imho it starts too early (1735). 1800 would have been better for the last flight of the day. Perhaps slots were not available.
For reference, the WX-flights back in the days (november 2016):
Morning: ANR 7:10 - 7:15 LCY 7:45 - 9:50 ANR
During the day ANR 11:50 - 12:05 LCY 12:35 - 14:40 ANR
or ANR 14:15 - 14:25 LCY 14:55 - 17:05 ANR
Evening: ANR 18:05 - 18:15 LCY 18:45 - 21:00 ANR

So... are those the same slots as VLM had, or was it easy enough for WP to get those new slots at LCY?

Yes, that's the problem it does not fly, 6 cycles a day for a more than 30 years A/C it's quite a rough flight schedule, structure fatigue is higher on high cycles A/C's, night will be busy on the ramp in Antwerp, and without a spare A/C, the slightest delay in the operation will have a lot of impact on customer perception. I'm not talking about an AOG, that would be catastrophic with only one A/C.

On the fuel aspect, yes a Turboprop burns less fuel than a jet, but from ANT you need to have a full cabin for your equation to work, if you compare with a BA 320 taking off from BRU to London with 150 (+)pax capacity.

So, you see criticizing a new operator is always easy, this post mainly to answer all the attack on Air Belgium, particularly from the northern member of this forum.
One of them who likes to spotlight financial difficulties of AB, in the hope that this will be caught and spread by journalist visiting this forum. A kind of psychological warfare who aims at damaging the image of the said airline. For what reason?, I guess it employs and give specialised jobs to too many W.
Although, huge part of the work force in AB is from VL.
You criticize?... I critisize too. It's tit for tat.

Air Antwerp has its IATA code confirmed
WP and ICAO is ATW

Reason: ICAO code is ATW and not ADW.

Point #37.1.b: it is not impossible to operate airline flights without having an active website. It would help, though :)

Well, whilse browsing the internet, I recently am getting a lot of ad's from KLM, promoting Antwerp-London (but also Antwerp to the rest of the world, via the Thalys to Schiphol as the first leg). On the KLM booking site it says for the LCY flight: "Operated by KLM flightno. KL0211 | Fokker 50"

Hi,

I am ( and two friends ) on the first flight ..
Booked day return via KLM.com .
While booking it stated flown by F50 by Air Antwerp.
Once booked and ticketed it stays only operated by KLM.

But as KLM has no F50 I guess you know what and who will carry you...

Bookable for 150 euro now..

Greetz ...

Who's in also btw ?
