OO-ABE AOG at Warsaw. Didn't operate LO26 and 27.

Previous LO26 flights had a delay of at least a hour, and on LO27 at least 2 hours...

14 June 2019...

My own sources say they are still busy, working on Chinese destinations.

But summer is in 7 days...

"As for further development of its own. Air Belgium is preparing to serve two destinations in mainland China from Brussels-Charleroi this summer." - This was the press release, exactly 3 months ago.

Everyone booked their tickets for this summer, so it is not the moment to launch this kind of routes.

As confirmed AB contract for SunExpress cancelled, no one in sight.

OO-ABA is at Charleroi for 1 month and a half
OO-ABB is at Charleroi for a few days
OO-ABD is between Warsaw, New York and Rzeszów for LOT
OO-ABE is between Toronto and Heathrow for BA.

British Airways extended the lease of Air Belgium A340-300 until 31 October 2019, operating London Heathrow – Cairo route due to the grounded Boeing 787-8.

OO-ABA is currently heading to Amman, before C-Check.

It hadn't flown for ~ 2 months.

Could it be that the runway length at CRL is such a limiting factor that AB had to resort to this ACMI business to keep alive until they can spread their wings far and wide from their homebase? If they are in for the long run it makes perfect sense. Once the runway is lengthened they can then launch all kinds of destinations around the worldin Africa, the Americas & Asia. Time will tell.

Also, A321XLR based at CRL would be a nice combo to take this point to point airport some range circles further.

Boavida wrote: 13 May 2019, 12:31 I'm afraid the whole business plan of Air Belgium has turned out to be a failure. They want to be a low-cost airline in a situation where Belgium is already invaded by numerous low-cost airlines, and with our "national carrier" being transformed into a low-cost also... Secondly, they chose to fly long haul to some Chinese cities from CRL instead of BRU.

With SN gone in the coming year(s), they should present themselves as the new flag carrier, full-service quality airline to Brussels, home of numerous international institutions and the second biggest diplomat city in the world. There must be a market for this.

Maybe in a partnership with a Gulf carrier? Why not?
I overheard some conversation about this.

QATAR AIRWAYS is a candidate to operate Transatlantic from BRU .
BRU is their first choice because of unique location, available capacity, enormous catchmen area and relatively few flights to US, CND etc.
QR also not keen to fight with KL & AF in their homebase. They know that NL and F governements will never allow their airlines and airports to 'surrender§ to a ME airline.
In Belgium it is another story, with a high degree of incompetence in all political levels.
Is this just a rumor or is there actual substance to it? If yes, any updates?

Maleth Aero to lease its A340-300 to Surinam Airways to operate on flights from Amsterdam to Paramaribo.

It looks like Air Belgium lost one of its oldest ACMI customers.

I thought to have read that it is an a340-600. So I think they lease it for its higher capacity?

My mistake: !t's indeed an A340-600 (9H-PGS). But it replaces Surinam Airways' A340-300 !

Not really. SLM already leased in the past a Plus Ultra A343.

But tbh, OO-ABA is at AMM, for D-Check, ABB is flying for BA, ABD and ABE for LOT, so it means there's no aircraft available for SLM request.
