Norwegian is to end its Gatwick to Singapore route in early 2019 after just over a year in operation. The low-cost carrier plans to operate the Singapore service from Gatwick for the last time on January 10 next year. Norwegian only launched the route in September 2017.

Haven't there been talks some time ago about Norwegian setting up a base at BRU? Every new/extra long haul flight is welcome...

North US East Coast is for Primera Air. But who knows between South East Coast, inside US and the entire West Coast. Who will be first? AB or Norwegian?

Norwegian Air Argentina now plans to open its domestic hub in Cordoba by 2Q 2019, with an investment of US$200 million and the creation of 100 jobs. The airline will close out 2018 with four aircraft and plans to take delivery of at least eight in 2019.

It doesn't mean Norwegian might not compete with Primera... It's not like they'd have a competitor on long haul except each other.

Norwegian is pulling the plug on its remaining flights from Edinburgh to the US, blaming the Scottish government for failing to cut air passenger duty.

Norwegian also ends Belfast to New York and Boston flights.

Long-haul low-cost in trouble?

Unfortunately as the Scottish Government is a minority Government, they could not get enough support from the opposition for the required legislation to go through which would have reduced APD.

Saw a chart today on linkedin that none of the norwegian flights from the UK to USA are making a profit

Norwegian Air UK to operate service from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale on 28 October, and to Denver and Chicago O’Hare on 01 and 02 November 2018, respectively, with a leased Wamos Air A330.

Norwegian received the operational authorisation for its Swedish AOC, with Norwegian Air Sweden taking delivery of its first aircraft – a B737 MAX 8, serial 42835 – at Stockholm Arlanda. Norwegian will soon apply for traffic rights from US regulators to operate its new subsidiary to the US.

Increasing financial problems at Norwegian: looking at divesting up to 140 aircraft in an attempt to survive, base closures, all pilot recruitment halted, selling to IAG back on the table.

Michael O'Leary, who certainly knows very well how to manage a low-cost airline, has predicted the collapse of Norwegian years ago: uncontrolled expansion, acquisition of loads of aircraft, launch of long-haul routes without previous experience, etc. All the ingredients of an imminent bankruptcy seem to be present.

Norwegian spokesman Philip Allport told Aviation24.be: "This is pure speculation. Our liquidity is satisfactory, we attract hundreds of thousand of new passengers every month and we are currently working on selling parts of our fleet, which will further strengheten our financial situation."

I saw a graph, think on Apex but can’t find it anymore.
Not a single long haul route out of Gatwick is profitable, a couple are just below break even, but on the majority they are losing a lot of money.
If IAG doesn’t buy it will, unfortunately, be AirBerlin 2.0.
I am going short on Norwegian shares.
