Laudamotion announces 17 new European destinations from Stuttgart (the hub of Germanwings!) in summer 2019, where the airline will deploy two additional aircraft and sell 700,000 additional tickets during the season.

Laudamotion to close its stations in Graz and Salzburg – which come from its predecessor NIKI – due to high airport costs.

Laudamotion moved forward planned service launch at Stuttgart (a Eurowings stronghold), now beginning in late-February 2019 with eight routes. A further ten routes will begin in March.

Let the competition with Eurowings begin!

Ryanair is not a long haul airline and will never be.
Laudamotion has the name and ex BER experience to make it so they can really create competition with other "fresh" airlines. Brussels is a good hub to begin, but I don't know about CRL (Ryanair hub) as ABB has its hub there, projects to fly in America for maybe 2021, like announced a long time ago, and the space available might be a good idea...

Let's say that "base" is a better word then "hub" for Air Belgium's operations at Charleroi. After all, they only offer three weekly flights to one destination, and without add-on possibilities.

Anyway, when Laudamotion eventually would start long haul out of Belgium, I'm pretty sure they will use BRU.

Yes indeed there are many advantages for BRU!

But why would Laudamotion fly long-haul? With A320s? :?

Laudamotion is very ambitious: it plans to expand its fleet to 40 A320s by 2021, and 100 jets in the long-term, with bases possibly outside of Austria or Germany.

Ryanair, which now owns 100% of Laudamotion, says it would likely act on any further opportunities on the second-hand Airbus aircraft for Laudamotion if the lease rates were between US$170,000 – 190,000 per month.

What's that for a policy? New Boeing 737 MAX 200s for Ryanair, used A320s for Laudamotion? Reminds me of a large German airline :)

Laudamotion will continue to significantly expand at Dusseldorf, as it seeks slots previously held by Germania.

Ryanair is in early discussions with Airbus about a future order for some 100 A321s for its recently acquired subsidiary Laudamotion. The Irish carrier is also interested in the B737 MAX 10 “at the right price”.

Laudamotion founder Niki Lauda retired as managing director, so that the airline is now led by a dual leadership consisting of Colin Casey and Andreas Gruber.

I had Laudamotion Charleroi's arrival in my head for nearly 12 months as they arrived at Paris Beauvais, it was for me the next step...

Now Laudamotion to be rebranded as Lauda...

Planning another hub for 2019, not German speaking countries... Bratislava or Budapest perhaps ?

Bratislava is near to Vienna and has no national airline...
Budapest is perfect to try to get some slots of Wizz...

Lauda (as it is called now) is mulling the opening of its fifth base in Scandinavia, at an airport where parent Ryanair is not active yet.
