Nothing to be proud of : undercutting LH and AB collective agreements and nothing to be happy about : LH's A340 could have gone to brussels Airlines in BRU to expand brussels airlines' s network.
It's clear that SN is LH/CS's lowest priority. In fact, it is not even a priority. SN is just a tool to help CS achieve his own goals (EW)
We will probably have to satisfy ourselves that LH does not transfer all long-haul flights from SN to DUS. If for flights to the US other carriers would fill the void left, for Africa it would be a disaster for many .

The current collective agreement between VC (German pilots union ) and Eurowings Deutschland limits the number of aircraft to 23 for EW Deutschland until 2019.
Recent negociations between VC and EW failed. Some ex-AB pilots are cross with VC because they wanted a collective agreement and being paid according to German labour law, even if it meant earning less.
They fear externalisation of their jobs (SN) or being offered a contract with Eurowings in Vienna where there is (still) no collective agreement.

I wonder what will happen to the SN operated flights for EW when a new (German) collective agreement enters into force in 2019 (if not earlier) ? Just a question which nobody can answer. Food for thought.

Eurowings to start new service from Linz to Corfu, and from Salzburg to Corfu, Kos and Rhodes in early May 2018, with A319 from Eurowings Europe (Austria).

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW), a Q400 operator that Lufthansa acquired from Air Berlin, carried out a first A320 flight for Eurowings.

Is that another way to reduce costs at Eurowings?

I read an article on the website here that Eurowings will be the 1st low cost to offer a business class... Doesn't Norwegian already offer that?

Nope, they just offer what they call 'premium',
an 'economy plus' product giving you more legroom and better/more onboard services.

The newly launched EW BIZclass offered onboard its new long haul routes from DUS is a true C class product, including a 2m long full flat seat/bed as you'll find it also at SN...
http://www.aviation24.be/airlines/lufth ... ess-class/
No surprise really, since it will be rolled out on the routes operated by SN from DUS, first. ;)

BTW, I gave away this radical product upgrade for EW almost 6 weeks ago already:

As I told Sean back then: EW is quickly being morphed into the hybrid airline SN successfully turned itself into: you can expect full product alignment by them soon, although it's apparently too hard for Germans to say they are being shown how to position their pet project successfully on the market, by Belgians... ;)

Eurowings signed a new collective bargaining agreement with Verdi and Vereinigung Cockpit unions. As part of the agreement, the carrier will increase its A320 family fleet to 30 aircraft by summer 2018.

Remember all the noise when Ryanair cancelled hundreds of flights. I don't hear a similar indignation for this:

Eurowings cancels 300 flights in Winter 2017/18

Eurowings has cancelled around 300 flights for the remainder of the Winter 2017/18 season, mostly on domestic routes in Germany. According to Focus, the decision was partially caused by a lack of available aircraft.

The LCC branch of Lufthansa Group had previously significantly boosted its domestic capacity following the bankruptcy of Air Berlin.

According to an e-mail sent to the affected customers, seen by Focus, the carrier will seek to rebook all passengers onto Lufthansa flights.

The cancellations affect less than 1% of all flights and are not "set in stone", which means that some of the flights can still be reintroduced, Eurowings' spokesman told Reuters.

Lufthansa Group has recently been granted European Commission approval to take over a part of Air Berlin's assets, including its subsidiary LGW - Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter. To alleviate the regulator's concerns, the group had to forego some slots at Dusseldorf to ensure that its total number of slots at this airport grows by a maximum of 1%.

With one very big difference. Eurowings knew this was coming resulting from the Air Berlin bankruptcy and following transition period this winter season and started planning ahead. Customers are informed much better in advance, they don't have to be afraid to show up at the airport just to learn that their flight will not effectively operate. Flights have been intentionally selected to optimise alternatives on other flights.
