Confirmed, Qatar Airways will start Luanda Doha service, from March 2020.

Competition to Angola starts to become stiff, outside UE Airlines:
Ethiopian Airlines
South African Airways

The end of a very long story ? First plan to sell RwandAir stakes started in 2006, with SN Brussels Airlines, Meridiania, then Etihad and Ethiopian Airlines

Some rumors in Rwanda say that the delay of the delivery of the RwandAir A330Neo (planned to be delivered early 2019) is linked to the Qatar Airways RwandAir deals. Qatar will also take part into the project of the brand new Kigali Airport.

Qatar Airways currently serves Kigali, every day, with a B787, and they have a weekly cargo service operated by an A330F

Interisting to see how gulf states are heavily investing in Rwanda:

Nexus (Saudi Arabia) has opened a Flight Operations Services base, years ago and they have signed a parnetship with Akagera Aviation (Rwanda) to open the first fixed aircraft wings air school in Rwanda

NAS Aviation (Kuwait) opened its 1st ever loungue in Africa at Kigali Airport. They have opened a second one at Kigali Airport, only used by RwandAir

An UAE company (i forgot the name) has also helped RwandAir

Qatar banks on RwandAir deal to expand in Africa

Rwanda is in the process of selling shares in the national carrier RwandAir to Qatar Airways, in a deal that is expected to shake up the country’s aviation industry and beyond.

Aviation experts say the move by Qatar to buy shares in RwandAir could enable it to solidify its presence in the African market given its current woes with its Gulf neighbours.
