Now Lufthansa does not expect its fist B777-9 before 2Q 2022.

Boeing CEO David Calhoun just gave a warning of sorts about the Entry into Service of the 777X. Already pushed back to 2022, he said certification could push it back further. FAA seems to have learned the lesson!

Boeing says that 118 orders for its B777X plane under development are no longer seen as firm under ASC 606 accounting rules that require it to regularly assess their viability, leaving it with only 191 solid orders for the model.

Boeing is recommending air carriers halt flights of B777s until the FAA issues inspection protocols, following an engine failure mid-flight.

https://www.aviation24.be/manufacturers ... ng-debris/

US regulators announced extra inspections on B777 jets using the same type of engine that shed debris over Denver, while Japan went further and suspended their use while it considers what action to take.

United Airlines is “voluntarily and temporarily” halting flights of B777s with P&W 4000 engines, affecting 24 active jets after an engine fire erupted mid-flight.

Eastern Airlines seeks approval to increase its total fleet from 10 to 18 aircraft and to use eight aircraft for scheduled operations. Eastern has purchased two B777-200ERs with planned EIS during 2Q 2021. Eastern will also be leasing two B777-200Fs to operate ACMI charters. Not sure acquiring B772s now is a good idea...

My understanding is that only those B777 equipped with PW4000 engines are affected by this grounding (as mentioned on the home page).

Only the original B772 and B773 were proposed with three types of engines : GE, PW and RR.
All B77L (B777-200LR), B77W (B777-300ER) and B777F are proposed only with the GE90-110 or -115. So these aircraft are not concerned.

Japan Airlines had retired its fleet of 13 Boeing 777s with P&W engines a year earlier than planned, having suspended operations in February 2021 after an engine on a UAL plane shed debris.

Emirates has warned Boeing that it would refuse delivery of B777X jets if they fall short of contractual performance commitments. A new problem for Boeing?

Citing a serious flight test incident and lack of design maturity, the FAA slows the B777X certification, formally denying Boeing the permission to move forward with a key step in certifying its forthcoming aeroplane. The delay pushes the entry into service into early 2024, four years later than originally planned.

Boeing is in advanced talks with Qatar Airways to secure a launch order for up to 50 of the proposed new freighter, the B777XF, and a US$14 billion deal could come as early as next week. It is sure that Qatar will not buy the (also new) A350F!

Boeing says it has started offering the new B777X-based freighter to customers and is ramping up B777 output in response to booming freighter demand.

Indeed, China Airlines (Taiwan) board approves the purchase of four more B777Fs, adding to an earlier order for six of the same model. The jets would begin deliveries from 2023. Three of the six previously ordered aircraft have already arrived.
