A few A380s still come out of the assembly line. This one is exceptional:

Emirates is seeking to cancel five of its last eight A380 deliveries, with Airbus pushing back because the planes are already in assembly. Emirates plans to take three more of A380s by March 2021. Any cancellations may result in a penalty of US$70 million per plane.

Lufthansa withdrew an additional A380, which is based in Frankfurt. Future A380 operations will be out of Munich only, and will consist of seven superjumbos.

ANA All Nippon Airways has delayed delivery of the last of its three A380s, which was intended for its Tokyo Narita to Honolulu route, amid a decline in travel demand.

Etihad says it has no plans to ditch its A380s and remains “committed to the delivery” of the A350-1000s, although “the global network” is under review.

Lufthansa A380s will remain mothballed until 2022, and they will only be brought back if demand returns.

Opposite decision: Emirates plans to keep its A380s in use as long as possible, at least another 10 years.

Lufthansa will decide later in Q3 on what to do with the 8 A380s it has parked. Early phase out is an option. Six have been permanently retired already and will returned to Airbus.

British Airways appears to be granting its fleet of giant A380 jets a stay of execution following the superjumbos’ grounding amid the pandemic. Some A380s are now headed in for maintenance.
