Now this news is something Advisor can follow, it would be unprecedented if this happens, the old saying " be careful what you ask for, you just may get it" applies to Airbus and thier insistance the India review the Boeing order may cause them to lose their own previous orders.
Air India to place 6 billion dollar order with Boeing

Don't be surprised if you never see another Airbus fly under the flag of India, Airbus has shown great disrespect to the people and Country of India.
The Country has been insulted and the Actions of Airbus may be subject to legal action and cancellation of orders.

How exactly did Airbus insult India?
Far be it from me to explain the intricacies of Indian culture, their beliefs, their pride, are a subject to be discussed with someone who lives there, so I'll leave it one our members who does live there and has great pride in his country and what its trying to achieve.
His name is " Advisor " a prolific poster and a very involved member of this forum, I'm sure when he's back he will expound on what Airbus's statements and actions mean to him.

Thats a bit over-exaggerated, i live in India and its a bit immature to consider Airbus' decesion to be an insult. Its more of an insult to the board that approved the decision than to the countrybits44 wrote:Far be it from me to explain the intricacies of Indian culture, their beliefs, their pride, are a subject to be discussed with someone who lives there, so I'll leave it one our members who does live there and has great pride in his country and what its trying to achieve.

Dear Brothers Bits44 & PlaneMad
Both of you are correct in your point of view.
Yes, we have felt bad over some instances of dialogue and statements issued by Airbus.
And yes, if we are to look more realistically, does AI decide whom to give the order to ? or do we have to listen to Airbus for doing what we have to and if done the other way, ask procedural and protocol questions Funny acting to me by Airbus
And a shot in the arm for the board yes, but then in India who decides, is the crux of the matter.

Aum Sweet Aum.
This foolish action by Airbus is escalating into Government relations, certainly not the way to treat your customers, someone at Airbus has exercised extremely poor judgement in following this course.

Yeah Airbus may have a point, but if Air Canada, Air Korean, and NorthWest who are Airbus loyal customers didn't go for A350, then it makes senses AI go for B787.BP wrote:I actually beleive that Airbus may have a point. How can AI Board choose what´s best if Airbus was not able to present the A350 up against the B787.
It may seem that this may be a logical move, as corruption may be involved. Lets not forget that its the Goverments money being spent here and not a private company.

Aviation Minister says the govt wil not get involved........there is no reason for there to be any objection by Airbus

Air India has chosen the B777/787, please let them be;)
It also says in the Hindu business line article that they are reviewing the Indian airlines A32- proposal for 43 planes from airbus

I like your 2 eurocents, HorsePower!
Exactly, the customer satisfaction is the most important
rather than crying, airbus should find out wha Air india found unfavorable or lacking in their product so they can improve...
Also, when Air France decided to buy a lot of B777s, did Airbus put up a similar fit???

With respect to AIRINDIA once the airline board clears the plans then they go to the PARLIAMENTARY BOARD for approval. So i guess, why is the world, especially AIRBUS making such a big hue and cry about itStarvmg wrote:Aviation Minister says the govt wil not get involved........there is no reason for there to be any objection by Airbus

As if Airbus wasn't already having problems in India, they may lose everything.

Compensation programs, that means a lot in India. Look at the website of Hindustan aeronautics.

Why do the russians sell a lot of military planes to India - also after the cold war? Because the russians participate in technology transfer programs.
If the Indian economy keeps on developing as it does now, there will be needed many more airplanes in the future. Airbus can make over its homework and make a package with compensation orders and technology transfer. Be sure that is the way Boeing has sold the deal.

Hmm - if the Indian gonvernment doesn;t get involved in such things how come the A340 order was held up by.....the Indian government. What sh*te. Airbus has cried foul because they feel that Boeing have been up to exactly what they (airbus) almost certainly do also. Bigger bribes paid - order achieved. Every industry does it...it's called 'greasing the palms'....bits44 wrote:As if Airbus wasn't already having problems in India, they may lose everything.

And before someone gets on their high horse about this being anti-everything - this happens in EVERY country, whatever you think. Withot wiching to get too far off topic, check out the US tanker deal and the nepotism that exists in so many organisations. For example....Senior Exec at Boeing becomes CEO at Continental (that eejit Bethune) - now, what do you think the chances of another airbus being bought by COntinental were? Now look at the sh*t they are in....not an asset to their name and a heap of debt...if I was a COntinental Shareholder I would not be impressed that my fleet making decisions didn;t face competitive tender - wouldn;t you?
I am quie willing to bet that funds transfer has led to the AI decision....but it is something Airbus does too I'm sure.....perhaps they paid their bribe and got nothing for it!
This insane reaction by Airbus has now escalated up the highest level of government and has affected Diplomatic relations between the two Countries, by escalating this furor Airbus is causing itself irreparable harm not only now but in the future.
