What orders will Airbus receive in Paris Air Show 2005?

Post by cathayoneworld »

Paris Air Show 2005 will be held on 13-19 June 2005.

What orders do you think that Airbus is going to receive?

(1)A380
It has successfully completed its first flight. Will this attract more airlines to order it?
A380 Possible orders:
Air China, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia
Air France, Emirates and Lufthansa order for more A380

(2)A350
It's time for Airbus to get more customers in the project of A350.
A350 Possible orders:
ILFC, Air Canada (Although it has ordered B787, I think it's not enough for AC), Aer Lingus, Finnair, Iberia, LOT Polish Airlines

(3)A320
Many airlines want to order A320. Including the A320 operaters want to replace the older A320s

(4)A340-600
Cathay Pacific wants to order more for their long-haul operations.

Paris Air Show is a good chance for Airbus to get more orders.

I seriously doubt that, since they also ordered B777's (18 + another 18 on option) That makes 36 airplanes, what is a lot IMHO...

AC would not go for the A350 after ordering the 787. To do so would be one of the stupidest buisness moves made in aviation history. Answer me this, why would they order a plane competing in the same market from different manufacturers meaning that they would have to train their pilots differently AND have trained technicians for BOTH planes??? It would make no sense at all.

I would not be suprised if Tap Portugal became a launch customer for the Airbus A350-800 and 900 to replace its current fleet of A340-300 as they are now 10 years old. The major problem being what to replace the A310-300 with? The Boeing 787-300 may be too short ranged for the airlines flights to Brasil.

Not really since some airlines operates both B, and A with the same capablities like Cathay. If I am not wrong they both use A340/A330 and B777.

I think not that Iberia now gonna order some a380.
They have also any boeing 747 and new airbus a340-600 at the moment.
Iberia now has order a lot of 318,319,320,321... , that are the aircrafts for medium at short ranges.
Iberia is thinking about the a350 and the 787 for long range ...
I think if they order one of that aircrafts it's gonna be the a350, because I think that Iberia over any years wanna have only airbus aircrafts.

Okay, I should have worded myself better. They may very well order the A350, but would this be an intelligent choice??? Is it intelligent for airlines to break fleet commonality (something that can greatly affect operating costs)????

As I allready said in another topic, I think we can expect LOTS of orders for Airbus. Rumour has it that Airbus, in the last months, only announced about 10% of the orders they actually got. So Le Bourget should become a waterfall of announcements of those and new orders !!!

It is surprising how only 1 airline yet chose the A350 ... I guess we'll see more A350 orders at LBG. Also A380 is in the running. And off course, the A320, like every year will get some orders.

But untill then it all remains speculation and we'll just have to wait and see ...

There will be something from Middle East airlines (Lebanon) ,
Etihad which still has to make its big loop forwards and
Air Arabia which is not yet in the long haul - but is willing to.

These 3 are airbus users and still have expansion capabilities.

Would an A330 not suit this sort of operation or is it to big.

In term of seats configuration, it's almost the same. Think the A350 as an A330 NG.
