For those ones who are repeating that BRU is not investing in pax, well, yesterday the new lounge The View was officially opened.

It's really a beauty and with a 360degrees view, place for 400 pax, sleep cabins, showers and a total surface of 2.000 square meter.
This new lounge is located in B pier.

Can this lounge be used by Star Alliance travellers?

How do they get the 360-degree view? Looks like it took over from the Diamond so I am a little confused. Otherwise sounds great.

What will be the purpose of this new hangar? Is it to merely serve an expansion of the Orizio activities at BRU? Or will it rather be a temporary facility that will enable the renovation of their other hangars at BRU? I've heard that this new hangar might have a temporary nature, with the framework being covered with fabric.

I am 100% sure it will be Sabena activities and not Orizio activities as a whole

Burton doesn't care about Orizio expansion but wants Sabena expansion ;)

For those saying that Brussels Airport doesn't care about its pax: another investment in passenger experience.

Brussels Airport has applied for a environment permit to move the drop-off zone to a new, permanent location. This will be behind the Sheraton hotel and will make it much easier and user-friendly. It will also replace the old buildings of the police and the airport security.
In the end, it should look something like this:

That's much better at the same level than the departure zone so no need to use the escalators anymore knowing that the Diamond is going it's logic.

And a rather limited investment, so it could go quickly.

That's the purpose indeed to have the departing pax again at the departure level. Like it was before but much more modern, spacious and with facilities.

But I can add also to this that all police and security will also have a new and much bigger building. Sitting in the satellite is temporary.

Very good news, after so many years.
Lets hope it comes soon and it will look professional.
It does not look as a big investment, but alas.

This on a side note. The Belgian government is in need of an extra 3,4 billion Euro for defense. By creating this new funds, they also look to sell their stakes in several companies like Belfius, BNP Paribas and Brussels Airport.

Let's see what will be.

It is indeed an improvement. I sincererly hope they will be allowed to cover ("roof") the drop off area to allow passengers to be dropped off and to walk to the terminal without getting soaking wet (well, some will say you have to see the full picture : sometimes it does not rain in Belgium).

What about the taxi drop off area ?

Finally! Nothing spectacular, but it looks good and is much needed.

Now I hope things will finally get moving. Can't wait to see the first renders of the new terminal expansion, the bus/train 'intermodal hub', and the renovated main terminal!

To give a bit more insight. The security, which building will be demolished to make the corridor wider for the new drop off, will move together with the badge department to the fourth floor in the departure terminal. The badge department will come were was the previous pizza hut on that floor.

Police and customs are already for years in the satellite. They will have also a new building but for the moment is not clear where to build it.

And there is much more but it's obvious that it cannot be revealed yet. But in a few years the airport will look completely different.
