Actually it wasn't repainted in 2019 but received a hybrid old LH - EW livery (just EW stickers and tail over LH old livery fuselage). Remember when D-AIKG was transferred from LH to SN in September 2019 she received a new EW colour scheme. But when she returned to LH back as D-AIKG in March 2022, she had absolutely to be repainted in LH c/s.
That was only 30 months in between, of which 21 were spent in storage.
Bad paint job probably.

It might come back, but you need the right equipment. The amount of traffic from CDG/AMS is much bigger anyway, so an A319, let alone a A320 is totally overkill from BRU. It has no sense to fly half empty.
I assume that once Air Baltic will put e.g. 2 A220 in BRU we might see cities like BOD, but also Bristol, Birmingham, Billund, Torino ... and others again in the offer of SN.

Even with full CityJet CR9 or CRX planes, BOD did not make money.

OK OK but...I would be surprised if Ryanair kept an unprofitable route and on certain days I had the choice between 2 CRL BODs which were also full flights. I fly to Bordeaux every month with AF/KL and the least I can say is that there are Belgians on board! I find it hard to understand that SN cannot make a profit in one way or another flying to one of the richest cities in France.

Probably it will be about the Air Baltic cooperation with their A220 for next Summer. On the same way they can tell how planes will be based at BRU and which destinations will be served with it. A few months later they can open the channels for the sale.
The second option is the unknown fact of the B737 order. Maybe if they will not say anything about it it can go to OS or EW.

Actually, Air Baltic A220 have a bigger capacity (145 seats) than SN A319 (141 seats)

Are they really planning on having an A330 hot spare at all times once the next aircraft arrives, and if so, what are they doing wrong?
Used A319 to new A220, absolutely. Hard to come up with a reliable estimate for a new A319NEO lease because there are so few of them. For comparison, a new A320NEO leases for about 33% more than a new A220.

There is nothing wrong in having a spare aircraft. This does not mean 1 non working aircraft, but optimising rotations, as critical mass of the fleet is achieved.
And as always it is an economic judgement on cost of average delays, short term wetleases and other cost of opportunity vs cost of 1 more aircraft in the fleet.
Why do you focus on leasing cost, only? Total operating cost is key and seasonality may play a role here.

May I suggest Luchtzak NOT to ask this question in order to not make a fool of themselves?
Seen all the disruption a spare aircraft is absolutely needed! It will cost less than paying compensations and reroutings and it will increase customer satisfaction. (One cancelled return a week will easily cover the leasing cost of an A330.)
