Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that large companies ranging from energy to airlines will have to turn over their “extra profit” to shore up the nation’s ailing budget.
Will this affect Wizzair?

Wizz Air has exercised its conversion rights for a total of 21 A320neos. The aircraft will be converted into A321neos with deliveries spanning the calendar years 2024 to 2026.

No risk for Wizz Air: the company reported a loss! Wizz Air Holdings reports revenue up 125% to €1.65 billion and net loss increasing 11.5% to €639.3 million, with total cash of €1.36 billion at the end of the 12 month period to 31 March 2022.

Wizz Air has wet-leased one B737-700, MSN 40880, from SkyUp Airlines (Ukraine).

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will launch regular flights from Abu Dhabi to Tashkent and Samarkand in 4Q 2022. In the future, the airline intends to open direct regular flights from Abu Dhabi to Bukhara.

Wizz Air Malta will not replace the existing Wizz Air Hungary, but is part of the diversification strategy, says President Robert Carey.

Dan Air (Romania) will operate several flights for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi with an A320, MSN 2479.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will resume flights from Abu Dhabi to Moscow from 03 October 2022, more than five months after the carrier suspended all services to Russia. But its parent Wizz Air, which is registered in Hungary, cannot fly to Moscow, of course, due to EU sanctions.

Wizz Air UK is scrapping most of its flights from Cardiff until April 2023 due to “macro-economic pressures”.

Wizz Air is now being investigated by Hungary’s government over what it calls possible breaches of consumer protection laws, the second such investigation it has launched against an airline since June 2022.

Wizz Air plans to launch 20 new routes from 11 European cities to three cities in Saudi Arabia, beginning in September 2022, connecting a.o. Dammam with Rome Fiumicino and Vienna.

Wizz Air is considering basing an airline in Saudi Arabia — with its own AOC — as part of an agreement signed with the government earlier in 2022 to develop the kingdom’s aviation sector. Meanwhile, it has decided to launch 20 new routes from three cities in Saudi Arabia.

Wizz Air will again offer flights on routes from Katowice to Abu Dhabi and Catania in September 2022, and also from Krakow to Lyon. In October 2022, the airline will fly from Katowice and Warsaw to Fuerteventura, from Warsaw to Marrakesh and to Madeira.

Wizz Air Holdings has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of a further 102 A321s, comprising 75 A321neos and 27 A321XLR aircraft, with the bulk to be delivered between 2025 and 2027. Wizz Air was also entitled to acquire a further 19 A321neo. Airbus also granted Wizz Air purchase rights in relation to up to an additional 75 A321neo for deliveries in 2028-29.

Wizz Air Holdings aims to establish a fleet of 50 aircraft at a new unit in Saudi Arabia by the end of the decade. Wizz as a whole is planning for a fleet of 500 aircraft by 2030 and may include possible operations in Egypt, Oman, Bahrain, Central Asia or Russia.

Wizz Air UK to launch flights from London Luton to Bydgoszcz and Lodz (Poland) in early December 2022.

Wizz Air announces further expansion to its bases in Italy, allocating two A321neos to Rome and one to Milan. The allocation of these aircraft is enabling the launch of 12 new routes.

Wizz Air Malta has been granted an AOC by the EASA and an Operating License by the Malta CAA. The new airline will commence operations on 27 September 2022, with the first flight taking off from Rome Fiumicino with one A321neo, MSN 10389.

Malta is probably the smallest country in the world with the highest amount of airlines registered there... :roll: :roll: :roll:
