Now many airlines have BRU bound or originating pax transferred to major hub airports. They'd rather serve the Brussels and Belgian market directly from BRU i.s.o. CRL.

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
What a drama here haha. But yeah South Africa has been in the plans for some time (they announced in the press in end June 2021, so not totally old).
They have already landed at both JNB & CPT. That would be interesting to see their future developments. Same with the ones of BRU. I don't see them really make a partnership with airlines without hub in Brussels. That's the whole point of some failures at the airline : no partnership.
French West Indies : Air Antilles Express, then back to Air Caraïbes... SFG not bookable or cross Antilles flights neither. There were also the "codeshared" flights to CUR, never seen at Air Caraïbes or so. You can't book flights for the other airline. It seems that it is all about wind. Sorry to say so Air Belgium but it is the idea I have for many months. Air Belgium reads me a lot (some people know why) but I have my right to speak.
Just imagine with LOT for example : KRK-WAW-BRU-MRU, what a long journey ! TUI doesn't seem to be the ideal partner neither.

Do you think a polish traveler looks at Air Belgium for his trip to MRU with his family?
How about TUI, what do you mean "not the ideal partner"?

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
I meant that actually it would be better to have a BRU based airline to have many codesharing possibilities. TUI is not really useful. Many airlines use their home base as hub. I mean that I don't really think that TUI might be the airline that would be able to get transiting passengers. It can be but limited.Lux_avi wrote: ↑26 Oct 2021, 17:29HKG put apart, what other failures are you talking about?TLspotting wrote: ↑26 Oct 2021, 10:48 That's the whole point of some failures at the airline : no partnership.

Just got info this morning that the RUN extension will not be for December, but pushed back to "early 2022".TLspotting wrote: ↑24 Oct 2021, 20:53 Willy Borsus, Vice-Minister of Wallonia told Air Belgium is to extend its route for Mauritius to La Réunion starting in December 2021.
Some issue to solve with crew flight time limitations. Corsair does it though, but from Paris.

OO-ABB on her way to LBV today.
SN does not fly today to ROB/FNA, and not exactly in the same area over Africa, but what do you think about having a "AirBelgium241" and a "BeeLine241" on the same freq .... ?
Is there an attempt generally to avoid confusion in the attribution of flight numbers?

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
As long as the call signs are sufficiently separate having the same flight number is OK. In either case Brussels flew out as BEL241W to enhance the distinction.Homo Aeroportus wrote: ↑25 Nov 2021, 19:10 SN does not fly today to ROB/FNA, and not exactly in the same area over Africa, but what do you think about having a "AirBelgium241" and a "BeeLine241" on the same freq .... ?

From 11 December 2021 to 2 January 2022, certain Corsair flights between Paris-Orly and Abidjan will be operated by an Air Belgium Airbus A330-900neo.

Air Belgium will be starting 747-8 freighter ops from early 2022. Pilot recruitment already started as this is also mentioned on their LinkedIn.

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
Could it be they are going to opperate them in the same way as they do for CMA-CGM. There is a logistics company that opened a warehouse at BRU and also bought two B747-8F, rumours say they are not placing them at the opperator that was mentioned in their press-release.
Re: Air Belgium in 2021
Great to see KF expanding like this! That 747 in Air Belgium livery looks awesome. It would be great to see a Belgian 747 again some day in passenger service (a man can dream)
